“Every Sentence Has a Story”
This new shirt from Designed Conviction comes from a social enterprise founded by my friends Taylor and Cecilia Conley in Washington state. Through the Conleys, I have learned more about states such as Washington and Indiana that do not have parole systems — a situation that strikes me as deeply heartless.
Taylor has been incarcerated for two decades, yet he continues to find ways to help others through several enterprises. Taylor and Cecilia also introduced me to my dear friends Matt León and his wife, Sarah. Matt has spent more than 27 years incarcerated and lives with advanced MS. I struggle to understand the lack of compassion and moral urgency behind his continued imprisonment.
