KY Prison Education Meeting

I was fortunate to sit at the conference table at the “Bluegrass Coalition for Higher Education in Prison” (BCHEP) in Louisville today. The study group was informative composed of activists and educators with much more experience than I have. We discussed the role of Kentucky universities in educating inmates and how that should be accomplished and attempted. I learned a lot and made some new contacts.

Hopefully the group will conduct research on how the new KY House Bill 5 (2026) will be implemented. The Bill mandates a 42-million-dollar training center to be built and staffed at Northpoint T.C. Prison.
