Our Monthly Prisoner’s Hope Mentor’s Meeting
I was delighted to have two friends join me at this morning’s TPH meeting, where we shared coffee and learned more about what it means to become a mentor for individuals currently incarcerated. The Prisoner's Hope (TPH) program is making a significant impact, with 210 mentees and 90 dedicated mentors actively involved.
At present, there are 24 men and 7 women on the waiting list, each hoping to be matched with a mentor. These individuals truly stand out—they have maintained exemplary conduct, completed educational courses, and fully agreed to all of TPH’s requirements. I feel especially fortunate to be mentoring five of these remarkable men right now.
During the meeting, we had the privilege of hearing from a fellow mentor, Mark, who shared his experiences working with Wayne—someone he mentored during the last year of incarceration and subsequent release after 24 years in prison. Coincidentally, I had the pleasure of meeting Wayne myself just yesterday at the Pathways of Hope halfway house, and witnessing his journey firsthand was truly inspiring.
